What is the culture like at SSFS now?

I'm considering sending DD to SSFS next year. However, in light of the almost-shutdown and ensuing panic, I'm a little unsure. For parents currently sending kids to SSFS, what is the culture and climate like? Is there a hopeful atmosphere or is it just fear? Are parents optimistic? How much are the kids aware of? Thank you
