Loudoun middle schooler records himself harassing 5-year-old with ethnic slurs

Absolutely. He obviously learned this from his parents. What kind of person teaches their kid to treat others like this?

Glad s kid in the chat group showed a parent and glad that parent took it to the 5yos parents.
It’s disgusting. We’ve gotta teach our kids as bystanders too, even if not involved, to stand up and do the right thing when they see something. |

| This is disgusting but also not that uncommon. My half asian lid has been calked yellow, aaked if he likes Rawmen, and asked if he eats dumplings. All of these occurred in Arlington. Generally I think people suck. And restorative for the muddle schooler f that. |

| I’ve seen videos of men recording themselves harassing Hasidic Jewish children (like 7 year olds) walking home telling g them if they had to look like them they’d kill themselves. It’s not new to do this but it’s very sad. |

A kid called my nephew an "anchor baby" on the playground when he was just six years old. That definitely had to come from the parents.
That song from South Pacific "You Have to be Taught" still resonates. |

*A middle school student recorded video of himself using ethnic slurs as he harassed a 5-year-old Asian boy in Loudoun County, Virginia.
The video recorded April 5 begins with a slur directed at the frightened 5-year-old. The 5-year-old went to the door to his house, pleading, “No! Don’t hurt me! Don’t hurt me!” He then ran along the porch crying out for other children to help him – “Don’t do it! Save me! Save me!” No one stepped in, and laughter is heard in the background. The harassment continued. “Are you having dumplings for dinner?” the middle schooler asked* A gang of middle schoolers terrorizing a five year old child- this is disgusting. I can only imagine the hell my parents would have reigned down on me if I participated in anything like that, or stood by silently. |

+1 I don't know if I would ever look at my DS the same. The words are one thing, but cornering a five year old and scaring him is heartbreaking. |

+2. More than likely this is a parenting thing so nothing will happen, but this. If this were my kid I don't quite know what I would do, but it would be drastic. It would probably cross my mind to do something like yank him from his comfortable urban existence to go live out on a farm somewhere where he has to work the fields and be homsechooled, his only access to technology zoom calls with a therapist. |

This is beyond a doubt terrible but I do not think it’s necessarily true it was “learned at home” though of course it may have been.
I am familiar with some situations where very nice families have one kid do something absolutely awful and contrary to their families values. No excuse at all I just know that sometimes kids that age can do absolutely monstrous things that are shocking to their families. |

Hopefully that is the case and the family will take appropriate actions to make sure it never happens again. |

A lot of really good people work for ICE. It's not all immigration enforcement. Look up Homeland Security Investigations - all you white ladies so concerned about human trafficking? ICE are the people who investigate and stop it. |
