FDIC VERA/VSIP

I’m eligible for VERA at FDIC, and would also sign up for VSIP.

I don’t actually plan to retire but worry about being schedule F — but also worried about DW job at EPA. If I VERA to hedge our bets until we have some clarity on her job, can I withdraw my VERA/VSIP within the 45 day waiting period?

Is your position on the new org chart?

Has anyone gotten VSIP email?

You really think this admin will let some withdraw from VERA? That’s a one way street.

Im an fdic attorney and did not receive an email yesterday if i qualify for any of the incentives. I'm assuming on monday I will know on the employee portal whether I qualify for vsip or drp 2?

The emails did go out last night about reorg and you would know whether your org us losing any … that’s another way to know if there is any potential for you to be RIF’d.

Also VERAs don’t get the 45 day waiting period. That’s primarily for VSIP takers. On a VERA though, I would assume that you could pull your retirement up until the day before your start. That’s how regular retirement works. Also, I thought if you qualify for VERA, you don’t get VSIP.

Meant to say, under the FDIC plan. I know in other places you qualify for both VERA and VSIP.

no wonder the gov is wasting so much money. I never knew how many lawyers there are in the federal government. wow, how many lawyers does it take to regulate food and drugs?

There are way too many lawyers at these financial regulators and they are mostly protected from the buyouts with admin staff taking the hits

How are some people protected? Are they denying VERA for certain roles?

Yes. Staff attorneys have been told they will not be rif'd. And as such, vsip and vera will not be offered to staff attorneys and drp 2.0 may be denied if requested.

Admin staff are already understaffed on many teams and do irreplaceable work. They are hailed as “heroes” but they are always the first to take the hit (same as health professionals during COVID). Their departure will throw the orgs in disarray.

If you did not personally hear from a chief, AD, or other senior person in your division that your specific role or team were being eliminated, congrats: you get to keep your job.

Only those people who heard this past week that they were being eliminated will be eligible for VERA/VSIP. And, depending on your role, even a DRP application is likely to be rejected because they want to keep SMEs in critical areas of bank supervision, resolutions, legal, IT, etc.

As I see it, this is how the order of operations will go:

1st to go: people who select VERA/VSIP from roles that will be eliminated
2nd to go: people who select DRP from roles that will be eliminated

*during 1st and 2nd rounds: pluck high quality people out and place them in open positions on other teams*

3rd to go: folks from rest of FDIC who voluntarily select DRP AND management agrees it won’t be a critical loss to functioning of team/division

*stop to see if we hit 1250 reductions in FTEs*

If not:
4th to go: begin RIF procedure among those in roles to be eliminated until we hit 1250
