Attendance Notification

Anonymous
Time to time, my son was marked absent for part of the day. Every time, it took time and energy to fix it because our attendance secretary isn't always responsive so we had to email him multiple times.

This must happen to other students sometimes. Do you try to fix incorrect absence or do you just ignore?

I always email to fix.

I always email to fix as well. I don’t know if it matters, but it bothers me when they get it wrong.

I've always ignored, but on another, similar thread, someone explained that for unexcused absences specifically, it's better to jump through the hoops to get them excused, otherwise a few strict teachers may not allow make-ups and give them zero if a test was given on that day. But if your kid was actually in school, and turned in his work, his grade is secure, so... doesn't matter as much.

I email to fix it but it also usually only takes one email. I think once or twice when the mistakes were close together, I gave up and let it stay unexcused.

I ignore. I don't worry about test make ups because most of the notices relate to errors by the teacher, teacher missing kid when taking attendance, kid stopping at the bathroom and being a couple of minutes late, etc. This is not the situations where tests will be missed and my kid will need a make up. If my kid has a planned or a sick absence, I notify the school and email the teachers. We have never had an issue.

Yes and we don't always get a response. it's really irritating.

If my kid was in class but marked absent they follow up with the teacher. If they were absent but excused I follow up with the attendance secretary.

If it is not resolved promptly I generally just let it go.

How on earth do you get a response? Who do you email?
