Insurance & stolen car

Today someone’s car was stolen in Bethesda when they left it running and ducked into a coffee shop to pick up their order. If it’s not recovered, would it be covered by insurance?

Guess that would depend on their policy.

Interesting question, not sure. In MD, it's illegal to leave a car running while unattended (to prevent car theft). The insurer would have a pretty strong case not to cover since the driver was doing something illegal, just like they don't cover in cases when the driver is drunk and it's their fault.
