Our anniversary is coming up, and I thought I'd make a reservation at one of the places I've heard good things about but haven't tried yet. We're thinking about one of the following:
Central Founding Farmers Farmers and Fishers Blue Duck Tavern Any thoughts, or others we should consider? |
Of your list I've only been to Blue Duck, but really liked it. Good service, excellent food, and top notch wine and scotch lists.
Founding Farmers was ok, I was a bit disappointed. I really liked the homey menu with the comfor foods, and everything was good, but not really great.
Ditto what PP said re: Farmers & Fishers - everything was fine, nothing great. Would not go back unless I needed to meet people in the Washington Harbour area. I've heard great comments about Blue Duck!
Of those I would go to Blue Duck or Central.
Blue Duck is one of our favorites. A really awesome special meal!
OP here. I was leaning toward Blue Duck, so these comments might have clinched it - thanks!
Founding Farmers is very loud and mediocre food.
Blue Duck, Central or Citronelle.
Blue Duck. Central is good, but too noisy and not romantic. Farmers & Fishers/Founding Farmers are both terrible.
We went to Blue Duck for a birthday a couple years ago, it was very good and nice ambiance. I haven't been to the others. But, we just went to Bistro Cacao on Capitol Hilil for our anniversary last week and it was very nice, much more romantic and charming than Blue Duck, with very good food.
I haven't been to Blue Duck, but I love Central.
|
Central has great food, but it's not remotely romantic. It's very loud.
I have not been to the other places mentioned. What about Marcel's, CityZen. Rasika, Komi? |
I really liked Bistro Cacao - went there for lunch recently, and it was excellent - the frites were yummy - and the little nooks and crannies where they place tables and booths could make it quite romantic in the evening.
OP here. Thanks for the responses. Even though it's our anniversary, I'm not necessarily looking for a romantic spot. I mean, I'm not purposely seeking out the opposite either, but we are much more into the overall experience and having an amazing meal. I think it will come down to Central or Blue Duck. I'll also look into Bistro Cacao, but since we'll be coming from MoCo, we might want to stick to downtown.
