Neighbor with air bnb

Anonymous
Ok my neighbor is now air b n b their whole DC house full time as they relocated for a job. It’s been an absolute mess living right next to them. Garbage daily, noise at all hours and from what I can tell they are trashing the house and front and backyard so I can’t imagine what inside looks like. At this point, I am ready to move. what can I do? I love my house so this is extra frustrating.

Call the city via 311?

It's not legal so they would know which department to direct it to.

Does the neighbor know their house is being damaged? I would start with telling them that. Have you looked up the listing? Does it say no parties?

A few more details might be helpful. Where are you? SFH? Row house?

Noise laws being enforced? Can you see the mess from your house? Does your former neighbor know what's happening? Do they care?

Yes but it’s daily rental so new people there every few days. Neighbor doesn’t seem to care as they are in a diff state and hired management company

Just call the city. This is easy for them to go after and just grab the listing for them. If it’s a rowhouse and they are not living there at all, illegal.

Yea it’s illegal. Just call 311.

It’s not illegal if neighbor was moved overseas. I think they get an exception of some sort but still blow the whistle on them. I am sorry OP

My next door neighbor in MoCo also Airbnbs her whole house. She lives elsewhere. It's been awful- noise, parking, mess in yard.... Is this illegal in MoCo, too? Who do I contact?

See this page for how you can check if they have the proper license and report illegal rental if not

I guarantee the neighbor doesn't know. The management company promises them one thing ("oh we vetted all renters and prioritize full week rentals"), then turns around and does another (daily rentals to a rotating cast of characters).

Call the neighbor and let them know. These management companies are pump & dumps.
