Loudoun county public school leadership is proving its incompetence, yet again. It is not a safe environment for kids.

It doesn't say anything about him being a pedophile. He wasn't even on school grounds, was alone when it happened, and is a sub, not a teacher.

This is a difficult burden to lay on the schools. If there is no public record, this behavior is often hard to detect.

My high school teammate, an all Big 10 athlete with a 3.9 gpa in English and a masters in teaching as well, engaged in increasingly blatant exhibitionist behavior. A well respected coach who won a state coach of the year award, he was arrested on five charges as his boundaries increasingly diminished. He was not convicted on any of them, though he did lose his job.

His ability to coach three sports effectively in one of the most diverse schools in the state was a huge plus for the school and the area.

My lifelong teacher friend who is familiar with the situation commented there wasn’t a Chicago area school district with an English teacher opening who wouldn’t have hired him. She thought teaching provided him with a target rich environment for his behavior. To say we were disappointed is a massive understatement.
