Glenarden Woods ES Experience (PGCPS)

Anonymous
Does anyone have any experience with Glenarden Woods? Our child got in through the lottery but is currently in a Montessori school. We are trying to weigh the pros and cons of a TAG ES vs a Montessori School that goes up to 8th Grade.
TIA

Montessori enrollment in upper grades in PGCPS get REALLY small, between 25-35 is average.
If there is any conflict between students it can be tough.
You can always transfer at middle school depending on where you are in the county. Which TAG middle school are you zoned for? Kenmoor and Tasker usually have spots for non-continuity kids but Greenbelt MS is hard to get into unless you live in boundary.

Thanks. We are zoned for Kenmoor Middle School for TAG.

We have been super happy at Kenmoor. My kids thrived and got into their first choice high schools.
If I were in you shoes, I would focus on what is the best fit for your kid acadmically/socially right now rather than looking down the road to middle school.

Thanks! We like the Montessori School because she is becoming so well rounded with all the things she is learning. But, we think there is room for her to be challenged which doesn't appear to be happening that I think a TAG school would help with. Not as concerned about middle school but just one of the factors we thought about as we try to decide.

If it makes any difference to you, I was told at the RGMS virtual open house that from 4th grade it's no longer Montessori, more project based . And then middle school is really regular curriculum, possibly with a Montessori feel but not sure about that since apparently there is no way to visit the school in person.
