FDA suspending milk testing - can someone elaborate?

Can a knowledgeable federal employee weigh in? It looks like what is happening here is suspension of the quality control tests used to calibrate the tests for pathogens ... but the tests of the milk itself are still happening. Do I have that right?

I would love for somebody who's tracking FDA and USDA cuts to share what foods we should be either avoiding, or more carefully sourcing, due to Trump cuts. But I understand that nobody may have the bandwidth, given what you're all going through.

This won't help Trump's complaints about lack of access to other dairy markets.

FDA’s milk testing program pause is not cause for alarm, experts say
‘This is not a suspension of milk testing,’ a trade association leader said.

"Nicole Martin, an assistant research professor in dairy foods microbiology at Cornell University, said the move would cause some disruption for labs that rely on the FDA program to certify their proficiency, but that they will probably find alternatives at state agencies to maintain their annual certification status. “From a consumer perspective, I don’t think people should be worried,” Martin said. For labs that use the FDA samples, “it’s an inconvenience.” she said. “But ultimately, we’re a very highly regulated industry, and it’s going to continue to be very carefully regulated and monitored.”"

Main danger with milk and milk products are the people handling it and not washing their hands.

Wash the exterior of your milk containers also when you get them. They have been handled by booger picking teens at the very minimum.
