exceptional stick skills, what other sports?

Child is being told he had exceptional stick skills, a few years over his level, what other sports would be a good fit to try out? We have only done lacrosse, soccer and swim. He’s 5 and can throw and catch passes in a game with both hands.

Olympics. Immediately. Sign him up now.

I'm going to resist the urge to roll my eyes and actually answer your question.

Get him skating and put him in ice hockey.

DS1 has good stick skills. He was recruited for both lax and hockey, and played D1 hockey. But nobody ever told him he had exceptional stick skills as a 5 yr old, so you might want to take that with a grain of salt.

This is what Search Labs | AI Overview suggests:

"Stick skills, such as diabolo or devilstick handling, are a popular and versatile skill for circus performers."

Basketball is the best sport for offseason lacrosse training, in my view. Soccer is obviously solid for fitness, but doesn't translate directly, while basketball does. Defensive positioning--getting low and moving your feet--slides, double teams, etc. is directly transferable. Offensive flow, cutting, picks, passing on the move also highly relevant for attack. Two-handed hand-eye coordination also good. I convinced my kid to play hoops through 8th grade, and it definitely helped.

Start paying for travel lax and send highlight reels to college coaches immediately.

Why the nastiness? No one said he’s going to the olympics or travel teams. Just asking for complimentary sports for something he’s showing a natural talent for. Some of you need to unclench.

Nobody is clenched. In fact, quite the opposite--a couple of PPs are clearly laughing and having fun with it. And answered the question.

+1 for the circus. Nomads, you know. Smell like cabbage. Small hands.

People are just joking - no one really has exceptional skills at 5 years old. You need a thick skin on the lax board. Just let him try what he likes or what his friends are doing - maybe baseball, hockey, basketball, tennis, golf. Who knows?

Try polo

Crossover sports at many schools are football in fall; hockey, wrestling or basketball in the winter.

Sports not yet mentioned that require good eye-hand coordination: Ping pong, badminton, and jai alai.

Who is telling that to a five yr old? No wonder lax culture is so dysfunctional.
