Can/will these organizations pull out of the upcoming World Cup and Olympic Games? Is this a possibility?
If I were a foreigner there is no way I would travel to America for these events. Thoughts? |
| We had a house guest from the UK last week. They had no issues with immigration. However, if I were ME or Hispanic, I would definitely be worried. I know there are some Europeans/Canadians who got swept up, but I think those were really circumstantial issues. Just remember to remove all your social media apps and any texts/chats where you criticize Israel and Trump. |
It’s insane that is what is needed to happen in order to come to the US. |
| Is the USA due to host either of these in the next 4 years? |
| People - you do not need to do that. Get a grip. 70,000 non Americans arrive in the US everyday. |
World Cup 2025 Olympics 2028 |
World Cup is next year, and Olympics in 2028! Have you been living under a rock?! |
| I would be worried coming as a foreigner, but Russia and Qatar hosted recently. I don't think our human rights record is worse than theirs and I don't think plans will change. |
Yet - give it a few years Presumably if the events stand there will be less travelers here than compared to other events. |
| Wonder if spectators will actually travel to the World Cup next year? I wouldn't. |
| Wouldn't be surprised one bit if some countries boycott. |
| The only people freaking out are the CNN watching old folks aka most of DCUM. |
I never watch CNN, and I think it's worrying. -Independent |

They just strip searched and detained and refused entry two white German tourists in HNL because they hadn't made hotel reservations thus were suspicious work seekers. I note white in case people think privilege helps. Nope.
This does not encourage visitors. |
I hope the IOC will cancel the Los Angeles games citing the likelihood of athletes and guests from other countries being arrested, detained, and put in prison by ICE |
