W&M interview scheduling

I’ve read that the W&M summer interview schedule fills up quickly. Does anyone remember which day scheduling opened last year? Or any recent year? I tried searching here and checking their Instagram. (Only Instagram post was from the same day as interviews started so I suspect scheduling was earlier than that.) thanks!

Don’t despair if you don’t get one in May. We started looking in late August (for kid in ‘23 and again in ‘25) and more interviews were added once the school year began and the new senior interviewers were in.

I think it depends on your / your kid’s flexibility, but isn’t, like, hover-over-the-Ticketmaster-refresh-button level of urgency. I’d have some dates figured out ahead of time, but I think you should be fine to get an interview time without too much trouble.

FYI my son visited W&M in the fall and decided to apply. There were no more interview slots at that point but he got in without one.

My daughter signed up on May 1st last year. She then needed to adjust it in early June based on her work schedule (pushed it to July). She was able to make the change with ease. So still spots available.

No idea if her interview helped her admission outcome, but she said it helped her make her final decision to apply.

We did it in the summer and it was relatively easy to get one. I think if you wait till senior year Fall is when you run into scheduling challenges.

My daughter signed up on May 1 and did an in-person interview on July 3rd.

A few of the questions I remember from her interview:

If you could have dinner with one person, dead or alive, who would you choose and why?

Who would you stick on a new version of Mt. Rushmore?

I only remember these because we died laughing at my daughter's responses, but she did end up getting in!
