If you or your partner took Fluoxetine (Prozac), did it have a positive or negative effect on your relationship?
If it had a negative effect, what did you do? Stop taking the medicine? Find something that affected you differently? |
|
Positives: I’m more upbeat, outgoing, social. Happier.
Negatives: no sex drive |
| Positive! |
| Negative: interfered with sex. Stopped taking it. |
| Negative: made me emotionally numb. Stopped taking it. |
| Negatively affected my erections. |

Two ex long term girlfriends took it. It tended to kill their sex drive.
Did not find out about the Prozac until long after beginning to date. Then I slowly discovered they had zero desire for the sex we were having; they were only faking it out of desperation to try to get married. Yeah, looking back, I was kinda naïve. |

I've dated a few women on it. All drier than average. One never wanted sex at all (after being sexual before taking the meds). One was still very sexual but usually couldn't O. One could O (she said) but the Os seemed like little tremors, not earthquakes. The communication and overall mood was better with the meds but sexual dysfunction is bad.

Destroyed a son's marriage. She started without telling him because of "stress". He had no clue how harmful those drugs were. Said he noticed she changed almost overnight but didn't know for a year that she was on them. Said she went from fun loving and full of life, to a zombie with sociopathic tendencies. SSRIs are the most prescribed drug in the world now, and doctors and scientists still really have no clue about what they do or the long term risks. Is inhibiting the reuptake of neurotransmitters good? Is desensitizing the neural synapses over time from excess serotonin and other neurotransmitters harmful? Nobody knows. It certainly changes the brain though, forever in most cases. |
| Forever? |
SSRIs devastate the patient’s libido and inhibit ability to orgasm in most cases. |
That too, although it is one of the less serious side effects. |
| What are other side effects? |
You're a psychotic liar. Maybe try prozac |
SSRIs have been linked to an increase in suicide risk. |
