People need to stop driving so closely.

If we’re all driving 65 average (with stops and starts due to traffic back ups), then we should all slow down and get there at the same time.

We can tail each other, have to flash our brakes, the people behind us react; and it progressively makes traffic behind go slower and slower. Going 85 and 30, alternatingly.

Or we can go the same average speed of 65, leave larger gaps, and go the same average speed. Traffic behind will go smoother too.

Stop tailgating and go slower, people!!!

I was just on I 66 and noticing that most people were going 60-80 and leaving about two car distances between vehicles. It's asking for trouble if anything happens.

That drivers ed rule about one car distance for every 10 mph isn't a joke. People don't seem to understand that if there's any kind of accident, or a distracted driver swerving a bit, they will have no time to react and can have a serious crash.

Maybe if you're a semi-truck. 6 car lengths between cars at 60 is veeeeeeeery far. You'd get cut off before you can get going.

People want to fill space, but it doesn’t make overall traffic go ANY faster to fill space. You are going 60mph behind someone regardless.
I can’t stand people who can’t just cruise behind the person in front of them. You are saving 10 seconds by zipping around, causing accidents and traffic backups behind you

When i try to leave this much of a gap, cars constantly cut in. Even a 3 car gap. It feels like it makes me less safe.

Yes, problem with 66 is it takes you out to places where too many cousins are also husband and wife. Need to get that app that they have in Iceland.

No, tailgating and going fast doesn’t make traffic slow down. There is increased congestion and waves of braking when drivers drive too slow, especially in the left lane.

Drive in the right lane if want to drive slower. Stop making traffic worse.

It is the road itself. Badly designed. Also, unfinished in places. There is one spot where the far right lane abruptly ends - no warning. I nearly got squished by a massive truck because the lane just ends and there is a wall ...

That can't be right/legal.

Stop camping out in the left lane when the people behind you obviously want to go faster. That’s why everyone is tailgating you. Just move over and go as slow as you like and let the rest of us move on.

People drive too aggressively now. Everything is a trigger. Most things are taken as you being a jerk.

Side note, I hate when people do not do the zipper effect when merging. They will literally inch up to the bumper to not you in. Is being polite by letting one car in front of you going to ruin your day?

If you drive on the shoulder to "zipper" in or had notice from afar that the lane is merging but you want to zoom ahead and cut everyone else off, that's a no dawg

No. Use both lanes until the end and alternate zipper. That is the most efficient method.

Sure that's fine. But I'm taking about no one in the merge lane because everyone has already merged but that one guy who zooms around everyone using the merge lane to try jam in there and get ahead. He's the one who causes the slow down and breaklights
