McLean just sent out the coaching slate for next year which effectively shows NO “White” or bottom level of teams starting at U13 (2013). As a current white team family this is new news. This year the White teams go through U17!

There are still 2 teams per age group — the top GA/MLS team doesn’t have a color assigned anymore, they’re just GA/MLS, so the 2nd team (which will plan GA Aspire or NAL) became “green.”
This year the top McLean team (ECNL RL) is “green” and the 2nd teams (NCSL) are “white” |
| Current families weren’t made aware of these color changes in a formal manner. |
| Current McLean family. They released previous communication which said they would field White teams depending on tryouts. |
If this is your biggest complaint about your soccer club, be very thankful |
So you didn’t pay attention? If they show two teams per age group wouldn’t you understand that would be a green and white team just called something different? |

They have sent emails, including this from this week. Also it’s always been the case that the teams shift colors after u13 when ECNL started and now where GA starts.
Travel Families, As we gear up for the upcoming Travel Age Group Tryouts starting April 21, we’d like to share key details about team levels, league placements, and the potential number of teams for the 2025-2026 season. U9-U12 Boys & Girls All U9-U10 teams will compete in the National Capital Soccer League (NCSL). All U11-U12 teams will compete in either the National Capital Soccer League (NCSL) or EDP League. Team tiers (from most to least competitive) are Green, White, Gold, Silver. The number of teams formed in each age group and gender will depend on the number of qualified players at tryouts. U13-U19 Boys & Girls Top Level Teams Girls: Girls Academy (GA) Boys: MLS Next New Tier Second Level Teams Named Green Compete in Girls Academy Aspire and National Academy League (NAL) Potential Third Level Teams Based on tryout turnout Named White Participate in National Capital Soccer League (NCSL) |
You’re confused. They arent called something different. The official email says “Potential Third Level Teams Based on tryout turnout Named White Participate in National Capital Soccer League (NCSL)” which is the same as now. For at least the past several years, there’s been a “white” team through u17 who plays in NCSL. |
| I think they have had issues with the white teams- especially in the older age groups. Some of the girls are not committed to going to games so they are always looking for guest players. It is unfortunate |
What is the big deal? Green RL is GA White is Aspire However, they will soon find out RL is not GA lol. They will have to trim a lot of those RL Teams over time to get a GA team. |
I think that they are already aware. As has been shared previously, in a number of birth years few McLean RL girls made the GA team. So Aspire is likely mostly Green + some White team players. |
White is not Aspire. You’re all confused. |
There are a lot more teams for boys. Why are you responding specifically for girls? Odd. |
