When does the fatigue go away??

Anonymous
I'm ten and a half weeks pregnant and still so, so tired. My nausea is actually much better (was pretty lousy in weeks 7, 8, and 9) but the fatigue is a killer. And I find that if I nap right after work, I feel even worse for the rest of the evening. Any advice? Or just some thoughts on when I will see the light at the end of this tunnel?

I generally get 8 hours of sleep a night, FWIW.

For me, the fatigue noticeably decreased around 14-16 weeks. I agree though that once the nausea goes away, it seemed the fatigure was so much worse, probably because I was so focused on it. '

For the most part my first trimester fatigue ended with the second trimester. Just to warn you though, I am 35 weeks now and the tiredness just came back full force...

IMHO, the sleep difficulties and fatigue of pregnancy are Nature's way of preparing you for the first year post-partum

Same. And joking of a PP aside. I'm going to stab the next person (and there have been several) who tells me it's good "training" for postpartum. How is any sleep deprivation a good thing?

Week 13 seemed to be the "magical" week! Before that week, I was so so tired during the day, even after getting sleep the night before, that I had to sleep in my car during work hours. I would literally fall asleep on the toilet, at my desk. Once, I went down to my car and fell asleep for 3 hours! Then one weekend, around week 13, it completely lifted. I felt great! Hang in there-it's around the corner

OP here. Yes, I know, it prepares you for the baby...but still, I'm looking forward to that supposedly magical second trimester when I will have more energy to work out, plan for the baby, do the dishes....etc.

the second trimester is much better but around week 36 it gets sooooooooooooooo bad and the worst for me is that I cannot sleep, up all night regardless of the fact that I am exhausted.

About week 14-15 for me, though I never got back enough energy to work out!

Week 11 - feeling much better.

Well I was completely swamped and sleep deprived in addition to my exhaustion through work the last few weeks. Since that's better, I guess less stress is making me feel better and less exhausted..

I don't think it ever goes away (even after baby), you just get used to operating with it.

Those of you with the late-arriving/returning fatigue, I'm curious: How old are you? I'm 35, 38 weeks along with my first. the fatigue arrived full force at about 35 weeks.

I'm told you really feel the fatigue more in your 30s than in your 20s, but honestly, my pregnancy was super easy until that fatigue surge late in the game.
