Will period swimwear actually work for a 40yr old?

I feel like even with the adults on the website for Knix and other brands that these are for younger women or lighter flows.

Anyone tried period swimwear?

What does being young have to do with having a light flow?

It's always been my understanding that period underwear or swimwear is just a emergency way to take care of small leaks when you wear a tampon (or pad). My period has never been so light as to NOT need a tampon or pad.

Use it as a backup for a tampon. They are absolutely not designed to handle anything more than a trickle.

Have you had the perimenopause gushes in your twenties or thirties?

As I've gotten older, I now irregularly spot for a large chunk of my cycle. It's really not enough for a tampon, but enough to potentially be visible in a traditional swim suit.

Ah. Then yes, maybe such a swimwear might be useful! When I spot before my period, I don't dare go into the pool. My perimenopause periods can be very heavy and arrive quite suddenly, so... not feeling confident enough.

I had extremely heavy periods when I was in high school. Lots of young girls have heavy periods. There is literally no evidence to state that being younger makes your period lighter. This thread is super weird.

I love to swim so just use a menstrual cup.

Periods tend to be heavier when they first start (as a teenager) and towards menopause (perimenopause). Heavy bleeding is a common complaint moms perimenopausal women. It’s why many women get hysterectomies.

Has anyone worn one? Wouldn't it squish out like a sponge once you sit when you get out? I don't understand these things, clearly.
