Did God intend us to live so long? Past 75?

Anonymous
Recently, I had this conversation with a friend. I don’t think so. I think he wants us to live useful, moral, responsible lives and to procreate children to bring them up in the same bandwidth but not hang on where we “wear” down society with worry and care and take away from the 40 and under set.

What do you think? Passage from a bible anyone? People are do obsessed with living so long, it’s a multi billion dollar business.

120 until we recover from sin. Read the book.

I think you must be very young and cannot imagine ever approaching the ripe old age of 75. When (if ) you do, your attitude will probably change.

How you live more than how long you live.

Yes.
My dad lived to 77. Although he was a young dad, and has many grandkids, he only saw one grandkid married. In fairness some of those kids were 6. Others in their 20s. I would have loved for him to see my kids grow older.

I know people hate when the atheists roll in, but here I am. These kinds of questions confuse me. If God didn't intend for us to live so long, wouldn't we just...not? I guess it depends on what flavor of God you're talking about, but if you believe this and you're hitting 75, where does that leave you? Wait for a lightning strike? Should you just opt out on your own? Hunger strike?

Does that mean that if a single individual is righteous and without sin, they can live to 120 or longer? Or, does it mean that all of humanity has to "recover from sin" in order to live longer?

Science is what has extended lifespans, both individually and on average. Ultimately, science may one day allow for people to live very long lives. Our bodies are biological machines that could be maintained nearly indefinitely. And, just wait until we figure out how to store our minds electronically.

I don't know what God wants but he/she/they/whatever didn't build our bodies to last well past 70.

What makes you think that? Something personal?

I think you put to much into religion and what you are told via others.

Passage from Genesis 5.
And all the days of Enoch were three hundred sixty and five years:

24 And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him.

25 And Methuselah lived an hundred eighty and seven years, and begat Lamech:

26 And Methuselah lived after he begat Lamech seven hundred eighty and two years, and begat sons and daughters:

27 And all the days of Methuselah were nine hundred sixty and nine years: and he died.

It's not God, it's science.

Cells die and shrink as they age, which leads to organ atrophy.

The human lifespan has increased as medicine and medical procedures have improved.

Speak for yourself. I do see lots of people who were knee deep in gluttony and in misery before 65. But I also see people who had discipline and are active, worthwhile citizens who are going strong at 90.
It is up to us to fulfill the mission.

Sure being disciplined and active protects you against all diseases.
