Memorial day weekend city girls trip?

Anonymous
My friend is here in the US for a couple of years. So far she's been to NYC, Chicago, DC, Toronto and Niagra Falls, and she's planning a tour of the southwest.

She wants to do a girls weekend Memorial Day (4days is possible) and likes cities mostly it seems.

She mentioned Philly - neither of us have been. Is that the best choice? We're in Ann Arbor if that makes a diff.

Please help with suggestions.

Maybe back to NYC and include a show? TIA

Based on where she has been and her preference for a city break, I would suggest New Orleans, Nashville, Boston, Miami, San Diego, or San Antonio. Philly is fine, I just would not rank it above any of the ones I just shared, especially if I were prioritizing hitting the best cities in America. But YMMV.

Philly is great! Lots of American history sites. Lots of everything really.

But that’s not southwest?

I think OP meant she is already planning to go to the SW on another trip so wouldn't want to do it now.

Philly would be fun. Or Boston? Probably San Francisco would be too far for the time you have but hopefully she eventually gets to go there.

Thanks - Philly and boston are in our time zone so that helps.

And Nashville's only 1 hour off and a quick flight from DTW. It really depends what she enjoys doing.

New Orleans for sure. Even if you aren't into the party aspect, the culture there is unlike any other.

Charleston/Savannah is another great 4-day trip. We did Boston/Newport, RI in 4 days and that was fun too.

Denver would be a quick flight and while I'm not a big fan of Denver itself, there are great towns to explore in Colorado.

New Orleans, Nashville, or Boston.

I’m not sure how interesting Philly is outside of American history stuff.

I think Boston is so much nicer than Philly, and has the history part, too, if she wants that.

But like others have said, I’d pick Nashville, Austin, Charleston, or Miami over both for a girlfriends’ weekend in May.
