Does your senior have everything done for college?

Anonymous
Mine has so much to do still: a mandatory course to pick, has college account for financial and health stuff but not email set up, has to complete more orientation stuff. It all needs to be done by May 1st. I have already nagged to get some other things done. How much would you freak out?

Mine has not even committed yet. You are fine.

Many haven’t even picked a college yet. That is due by May 1.

OP, what program has these May 1 deadlines?
Anonymous
DC has done not one thing. Fortunately I have no idea what needs to be done so I’m not sweating it.

Mine didn’t do most of those things until his June orientation. Then he met online with an advisor in early July. By this point, he had just committed and that’s it.

Mine just committed. We're getting a "to do" list together and will work through in order.

Mainly, I want him to name his top 3 dorms.

OP, it is very likely that you are misunderstanding what is required of your senior. May 1 is t he national deadline for choosing a college and just putting down a deposit. Most kids would not be able to start to do any of the things you list until after May 1.

My kid got into his school early decision, back in mid December, and they have not sent anything about housing, choosing classes, or anything else like that yet. That will all come in the summer. He does have his student ID card already though, but that was a convenience, not a necessity.

No, we have a checklist and things are marked as due by May 1st. I realize it sounds illogical given decision deadline date!

The stuff you are talking about is maybe a few hours of work at most, so why are you freaking out?

Not at all. Also seems weird that it is all due by May 1. Is this a service academy or something?

No, it’s a large public.

It is maybe 1 hour at most, but it’s not getting done unless I nag. It does freak me out bc I can’t relate to not doing it at all. Why not just do it and not risk forgetting?

Yes, OP, I remember this from last year when my son committed to UVA. They had a deadline of 1 May for a whole laundry list of things. Nothing took all that long... it was just a lot of little things. The one painful one was the vaccination record. The college required an "official" list from the doctors office, but it would not accept the list that the doctors office sent to my son because it didn't include their official address or some such nonsense. He had to resubmit this part several times.
