I've never had a facial, but I'm considering it, because every time I get a zit (usually a couple around my period) it leaves a dark mark on my skin for weeks (or more!) after it's gone. My skin tone is also just sort of uneven. Would a facial help?
And, one way or the other, who would you recommend? Are there different kinds of facials? And are they consistent throughout the industry (like massages) or does each salon/spa have their own names? |
| I love how fresh my face looks after a facial with glycolic - but am always disappointed it doesn't last longer... |

Facials are only temporary means. You need a good skin care routine and probably a product from the derm doc to help you avoid period breakouts.
I haven't had a facial in years and my skin appears flawless because I have a great skincare routine I practice twice a day to keep pore clogging at bay. |

not 4:25, but here is mine:
1) wash in am and pm "thoroughly" with cetaphil 2) am use oil-free, sensitive skin sunscreen before makeup 3) pm; wash face; dry, apply sensitive skin lotion to dry spots; retin-a prescription from derm once a week, exfoliate once a week with cleansing cloth (on a different day than retin-a) |

4:25 here. My derm doc recommended a series of medical grade (non-prescription) products which I now replace online at a lower price. Much less expensive than the cosmetic products you get from Lancome, Chanel, etc.
I cleanse morning and night using inexpensive drugstore products and a Clarisonic which thoroughly removes all grime and dead skin cells. My skin is oily and mature so I use glycolic and retinol products - MD Forte, Avene, Revale but also Strivectin. Neck as important as the face. No need to use exfoliants or masques. Then European sunblock (more effective and advanced than American ones) every single day of the year. |
