‘Extended’ expiration dates on dairy items

Anonymous
What’s up with that? I usually buy organic milk, so I know the expiration date is typically “longer” than the regular sell-by/best-by date, but all dairy products seem to have weird expiration dates lately. I just bought organic whole milk that has an expiration date of JUNE. I’m noticing the same with cheese.

In the immortal words of D’Ondre Cole, “What’s Up With That?”

2 months on organic milk is standard, no?

Probably ultra pasteurized instead of regular pasteurization.

But usually they put for best quality use within 7 days of opening.

Marketing gimmicks. Sniff test is only reliable one.
