Trump declares that his own illegal immigrant employees can stay in US

Trump declares that his own illegal immigrant hotel employees can stay in US.

Absolutely shameless, and prove that Trump hates everyone, including his own voter base, except himself.

OP, your first sentence is misleading because the article doesn’t say that anywhere. But it does say that Trump wants to exempt hotel workers and farm workers from his immigration crackdown. He clearly hadn’t thought the whole thing through when he jumped on the anti-immigrant bandwagon.

That article discusses guest programs…

What is going on is a similar to what happened during the Miami drug wars. Miami was quite the war zone in the 80s. NYC and DC were also very dangerous due to downstream effects of largely foreign drug lords, like the crack epidemic. While difficult to pinpoint an exact number of deportations specifically related to the Miami drug wars, the drug war era did lead to a significant increase in deportations.

There are many famous federal cases where drug traffickers (and murderers) were apprehended and then deported after serving prison sentences.

The U.S. immigration the reduction of intense drug trafficking routinely go hand in hand. I feel like we missed the public education campaign on this. Or maybe bc people are not seeing the nightly news or shot-up bodies in Miami—-that there is no public support. The crime is in fact happening and it is very serious and violent. For some of these people, we should be celebrating that they are apprehended.

Trump owns hotels and wants to exempt hotel workers. Not a big leap.

Why exempt hotels? No one is visiting this hell hole of a country for a long time.

No, it says

"President Donald Trump suggested at a Cabinet meeting Thursday that undocumented people working on farms and in hotels would be allowed to leave the country and return as legal workers if their employers vouched for them."

Yeah so same thing. He owns hotels so surprise surprise that they are one of two favored categories of workers that will not be pursued. This “touch back” provision is what was suggested in prior immigration bills by Congress.

DP. I actually don’t hate this Trump policy (although the OP title was the click bait for me bc I think Trump is sharmeless and I think it’s corruption before our eyes that government agencies like social security are moving to X for communications - conflict of interest much Elon?).

BUT please know - it’s fact - crime has been down quite dramatically https://www.pewresearch.org/short-reads/2024/04/24/what-the-data-says-about-crime-in-the-us/

And please consider you may be watching too much Fox News?

NP here. There is enough horrific things Trump is doing to raise a red flag where there isn’t a need. That just distracts from the argument that he’s a terrible person. This is actually a good policy decision and if any sane President announced it alongside other humane immigration reform it would be viewed as a positive.

Now pointing out how Trump’s ICE are kidnapping students off the street - that is the story that highlights the immortality of his actions.

Trump has a lot of eastern europeans working at Mar A Lago and his golf courses who he brings in on visa because the scumbag doesn't want to pay Americans what they should get paid.

NP. While I generally agree with you, I and many other people don’t trust the crime stats that say crime is way down simply because it doesn’t reflect what we experience in daily life. I don’t know whether it’s because crime is simply not recorded any more, or the definitions have changed, or what, but I don’t know anyone who actually believes crime is way down.
