Spinning off the "DMV is a handicap thread"; Almost no one applied from Herndon to the UCal schools but looks like a lot applied from Langley/McLean. The data is posted here: https://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/about-us/information-center/admissions-source-school
If a UCal is your target school - any downside to transferring to Herndon HS and applying from there? |
|
Because your kid would have to move away from their entire social scene mid high school and apply from there?
Herndon is a different vibe, yes it’s technically the same ffx curriculum but I don’t see why you would upend some major parts of your life just to do this. |
| Your child still might not get in coming from Herndon. Will it have been worth it if that’s the case? |
| OP, you cannot be serious |
| Why not just move to West Virginia? It’s sort of commutable and there should be less competition for the UC schools. |
lol |
| Maybe so, and maybe that’s a decent reason to switch. But to game college admissions? Hell no. |
| Fewer kids apply from Herndon, but they don’t get in. That seems like a terrible strategy and terrible reason to switch schools. |
| There is always UC Riverside. The Inland Empire will be nice change of pace for a Highlander or Saxon. |
| I personally know 2 kids who were accepted to multiple UC schools. I do not know why that data is not listed on the website. |
| ^^meant to add- from Herndon ^^ |
| What a dumb reason to move. |
The website suppresses small numbers for privacy reasons. It is not hard to get into a UC out of state. UCLA or Cal, those are hard. But if you are willing to pay OOS tuition for UCSC or Davis it’s much easier. Some self-selection of course, but the acceptance rate at Davis from our high school is usually 90-100%. |
