Not for golf;for visiting the university. Thank you for any suggestions!! |
Hopefully others might answer your specific question, but we stayed in Edinburgh and easily took the train/bus back and forth to the uni. |
The town is very small, anything in town should be an easy walk to the university. We stayed at the New Inn, which is a pub that also has rooms, which are above the pub. Maybe a 10 minute walk to the university, either along the road or along the Fife Coastal Path (much more scenic!). It is, however, on the far side of town from the bus station (which is one way to get to the train station). |
I would start by searching at "www.google.co.uk" and use a search string something like "bed and breakfast St Andrews scotland". |
There is a golfing hotel. Maybe some on DCUM could afford it, but we could not. |
You do not need to overnight there. Stay in Edi |
I had a great stay with family in Rufflets just outside of St.Andrews. Also, I love the Old Manor Hotel in Lundin Links on the other side of Fife, but it's been a long time since I stayed there. |
The Fairmont St Andrew’s! Was my favorite hotel and they have a 5 min shuttle that will take you to and from town. |
Nice hotel, but so expensive that many people cannot afford it. |
We’ve been to St Andrews many times. We’ve walked the Fife coastal trail to the Fairmont and eaten there. But it’s just too “remote” from the quaint St Andrews town, so you don’t get the feel of the little town at all. I’d recommend Edinburgh hotels before the Fairmont. We rent via Airbnb (pretty much the only destination where we do this) and always within 1/2 of the college. |
Some people have a really difficult time grasping the concept of "Discussion Forum." |
If you're visiting the university for a college tour, then stay in one of the university dorms (if you're going in the summer.). https://www.st-andrews.ac.uk/visiting/accommodation/ |
Seconding staying in the dorms - they were so charming! |
Russucks-one if my favorite hotels I’ve ever stayed in. |
