Doing away with 529, student loans and grand to universities

Anonymous
In Trump’s new economy the need for college education workers is not really that high. So is it time to do away with 529’s, student loans and grants? These things made sense in a different economy but now they do not. Remember we have a huge deficit problem and these programs increase the deficit.

You do not need a college education to work at a factory, join the military or work in CBP.

You are assuming administrations will never change.

my kid is not working in a factory.

but you do you. that's the great thing about America - you can do you.

+1 The only thing that has changed for me is I'm much more inclined to encourage my DCs to spend their 529 money at a college overseas.

Why do you think you and your kid should not work in a factory making iPhones for $3.60 and hours?

I would love it if my DS went to college somewhere else. He would love it too, but it's not in the budget.

Don't be fooled . Republicans will still send their own kids to college. Barron is going to NYU.

I heard he was not going to college and be working at a factory in WVA making T-shirts.

529s reduce income tax for the wealthy, therefore they will not be eliminated.

They also reduce income tax for MC/UMC people who plan and want to save for their kids education. It's an extremely useful tool and having educated people is a good thing

Ask yourself: are Trump's kids or grandkids skipping college? No. They only want poor people to skip college to...wait for it...keep them poor.

Okay, you do you. I’ll do what’s best for my family until your guy takes away more of my rights. Thanks.

Umm 529s are not tax deductible at a federal level. States give individuals the ability to deduct or take credits for 529s on state income tax filings.

The growth in 529s when paying foe college is tax free whem it pays for qualified colleges expenses so it technivally reduces potential capital gains tax and taxes on dividend and interest but those amounts. But also incentives saving for college and reducing people taking students out and thier amounts
