For those of you who swear non ivy T25s like Washu, Emory, Vanderbilt, Rice are less prestigious than ivys please explain the Salary differences for 2023 grads

Cornell

Washu

Vanderbilt
$85,000

These seem like Ivy level numbers to me. And a reminder that Emory doesn't have Engineering. Vandy, Rice, and Emory are all in the South as well.

We should be upset that Cornell parents put down our DCs schools just for their kids to make less.

OP doesn't know what the word "prestige" means.

An electrical lineman might make $250k a year, and it's a cool job. But it is not "prestigious".
Anonymous
"Prestige" means I can graduate from Princeton, fck around making $0/year, and I still get to sh!t on an Emory grad making six figures. That's what prestige is.
Anonymous
I'm not an Ivy grad, nor do I have Ivy aspirations for my kids, but MY GOD the level of insecurity it takes to compile this data, care about it, and create a post.

This is unhinged. I am begging you to go outside and get some sunshine.

True. A plumber could make more than an Ivy grad if that Ivy grad works for a non profit.

Salary isn’t the marker of prestige. Many prestigious jobs (that those ivy grads go into) don’t pay well.

Did you also create the thread about finding pleasure in not hiring T15 grads?

Might want to get a handle on that mental illness, OP. For your own sake. From where I'm sitting, you're mighty entertaining.

OP - There will always be those on DCUM who obsess over Ivies. The difference btwn the Ivies and the others you mention, is like the difference between the top 0.1% of colleges in the US vs the top O.2% if that.

We should? Really?

Why should I care - at all - about this?

OP, You almost have to feel sorry for those prestige whores. If your life is spent chasing prestige, chances are you lead an insecure and shallow life.

Prestige: widespread respect and admiration felt for someone or something on the basis of a perception of their achievements or quality.

Prestige is all perception. Not having to work at all because your family is so wealthy could be considered prestigious. Worrying about a $1k or $2k difference in first year salary is the opposite of prestigious.
