This is shameful. Federal parks and lands are going to increase deforestation because of Trump's megalomania.

Trees do grow back when replanted. |
He’s also expected to sign an EO bolstering coal mining. Among its provisions is to prioritize mining on federal lands and exclude coal projects from environmental reviews. Yay coal pollution! Yay destruction of federal land!

This will reduce wildfires and make the tree huggers mad too. Win-Win. |
Not in our lifetime you fool. |
Mature trees do not cause wildfire. New growth and scrub does. What replaces a large tree when removed? Brush. |
But, we have not been removing brush because the environmentalists stop it. Look at California. Then, look at Germany. |
Tell me you know nothing about forestry and sustainable logging without saying it. If you want to criticize, then do so for countries that aren't replanting while you have your feet up on your imported hardwood coffee table. |
But people need their houses with coastal views of the Pacific Ocean. |
No one to buy the wood soon. No new housing starts or labor costs so high that only the wealthiest can afford it. A deep recession looming so optional things like building that back sunroom, redoing the kitchen, etc. are all back-burnered.
No biggie. Serfs don't need homes. Just thatch huts. See you all in the square for the next public flogging! |
How long do you think it will take to regrow a trees that was hundreds of years old when cut down? |
They have to make up for the tariffs on Canadian lumber. |
Trees are the fastest growing investment and can be invested at any stage. There are people that specialize in buying selling forests at any stage to take them to maturity. Though, not all trees are amenable to investing for fast growth (EG Rosewood) and old growth slowdown in growth, so they don't make good investments. Monoculture can also be an issue, growing just oaks for example is problem. People blame logging on the disappearance of the ivory billed woodpecker, but it was getting its bum kicked by the pileated anyway. |
Hundreds of years. So you should limit logging to 1% of the forest. |
Why? Is there a lumber shortage? Short term thinking is all Trump is capable of and his voters don’t care about anything in this world. |
