Eric Wargotz - Republican in Maryland, Birther, Tea Party Sympathizer

Anonymous
During an interview, he was asked, and answered:

STARK: Do you believe Barack Obama was born in the United States or not?
WARGOTZ: No, I do not believe he was born in the United States.

It's on video - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2jz8wn8_8-w

He's also, if not a tea party member, a sympathizer:

I believe Barack Obama was born in the United States, but I don't particularly care of someone else doesn't.

If he really wanted to put speculation to rest why not make his birth certificate public? Until that happens it really doesn't bother me what other people think and it doesn't tell me anything about their core beliefs other than that they like empirical proof.

Bill Maher: "[T]eabaggers love the truth. They just hate facts. And giving them facts not only fails to change their mind, it actually makes them embrace the bullshit more."

Bill Maher is hardly an objective source for anything.

Because it wouldn't settle anything. Look, here are two Obama birth certificates. Both are backed by affidavits supporting their authenticity. One says he was born in Hawaii. One says he was born in Kenya. You decide which one you want to believe.

He has a birth certificate from Hawaii. The state's health director has confirmed it. Hawaii released the short form birth certificate, which is acceptable to our state department, just not, apparently, to right-wing simpletons.

Also, there is a record of his birth from the newspaper of record in Honolulu in 1961. Do you think his wily parents conspired to trick people into believing their son was born on American soil?

Obama has laid this to rest. Racism and ignorance fuels this. Nothing more.

Hmm. Okay, you convinced me. Like I said, I believe he was born in the U.S., but under the circumstances I have no idea why anyone would believe otherwise.

Still think Bill Maher is just an ass.

Here we go again with the racism claim. A white person doesn't agree with Obama so they're racist.

OK, just ignorant.

You don't have to agree with Obama. It's not his word that matters. What matters is that he has a freaking birth certificate which the state of Hawaii swears is real. And he has a birth announcement in the paper in Honolulu marking the date and place of his birth.

Absolutely. You don't think the birthers are racist? Wanna buy a bridge? Or perhaps in your case, a mirror? The birther movement is strongest in the south. When polled, more southern whites (than in any other region) think Obama was born outside the US. And why aren't there any birthers of color for that matter?

Do you honestly think the birthers throw around his middle name -- Barack Hussein Obama for nothing? If his name were Bradford Wellington IV, somehow I don't think being born in Hawaii in 1961 would be such a big deal to these idiots. The hospital releases the birth info to TWO newspapers -- otherwise, how would the info get there? Was there a grand conspiracy afoot b/c his parents KNEW he was going to be president in 40 odd years?

Ignorance fuels the birther movement. Most birthers are racist, as well.

Opposition to Obama is not in se proof of racism or ignorance.

Or is the poster complaining "Here we go again with the racism claim. A white person doesn't agree with Obama so they're racist," saying that the only way to disagree with Obama is to be a birther?

Saying, "Barack Obama was born in Kenya," is an ignorant statement, going against the preponderance, if not the totality of, credible evidence.

Saying, "I believe that Obamacare will be unsustainable," is a statement that is at least credible.

He may not be an objective source, but he was issuing an opinion, not a fact. But even if he had said, "President Obama was born in the United States," regardless of how scurrilous you may think Maher is, he would still be stating a fact.
