| I'm looking for a two-bedroom apartment in Bethesda or NWDC, on a month-to-month, or up to six-month contract if needed -- but not a one-year contract. Any recommendations would be greatly welcome. |

| A lot of the larger apartments will let you break the lease for a 2 month penalty. Individual landlord's might let you break if you find the replacement tenant for them. That might be the best you can do in your situation. |
| Look at the Sumner apartments near The Shops at Sumner place. Not Sumner village - it's an apartment complex with short term rentals. |
| Try to find a subreddit covering those areas and post there. In my local subreddit, people sometimes post to try to get people to take over their leases. |
| Maybe look for sublets on Craigslist. |
+1 No landlord is going to want to sign you up for six months in April with a vacancy in October. |
| Topaz House Bethesda. |
This is very risky and will reduce your chances of finding apartment later. The landlord can force you to pay the rent until another suitable tenant is approved. With little incentive, this can be delayed. Read the lease very carefully before signing. Better to look for a month to month instead. |
I second this place - we used it when we did a renovation and it was great. |

I rented here I had to guarantee 3 months rent then go month to month afterwards. They only charged me a small premium to be less than one year. Was a nice building. They dont use realtors at all you have to contact them direct. They have a on sight leasing office. I was moving from out of state so did rental on line. No issues. I showed up apt was ready. |
| Also did a six month lease at Topaz. They also have month to month, I believe. |
