AAP appeal questions

I got DD's profile yesterday and realized that school used her first grade fall iReady percentile for reading, which was only 70. Her first grade spring percentile was over 90 and second grade VALLSS was 687 and 711 in fall and winter assessment, respectively (no iReady reading in second grade). I'm wondering if anyone got such situation before? Shall I go to appeal directly, or try to connect with school AARP or central AAP office first? The test scores were the third page of her profile (second page was HOPE) that I'm afraid the committee may even not bother to go through the rest of the package.

Also, how important are the first section in report cards (life, work, and citizenship skills)? DD is one of the youngest in her school (she skipped K and went to first grade before 6), and always got some 2s there (e.g., solves conflict effectively, follows directions)...

Many thanks!

Don't contact the central office.

Definitely appeal.

Definitely ask your AART if they will consult with you over the appeal. Some will be incredibly helpful, some will offer just a little feedback, some will tell you no.

If you can document twice exceptional in some way to explain the 2s, that will certainly help.

We are on the same boat. We talked to our school AART teacher and she mentioned that it is automatically popped out in the system. AART teacher has sent an email to the center to request an explanation. I think this is a system bug. No way to use the outdated test score to determine the latest admission if you have the latest test result.

So appeal for sure

I think that was the standard date used for the iready reading scores. That the was the date used for my daughter's and for my friend's son who goes to a different school.

Then that comes to the confusing part. Is there any specific reason for using the 1st Grade Fall IREADY test result ? Does 1st grade iready tests something special? How last year AAP package looks like? I believe last year AaP application covers at least one 2nd grade iready score
