Eyelid pulsating

Anonymous
My eyelid randomly pulsates (for lack of better word). And if you look in the mirror you can see it throb. It eventually goes away, but I have no idea what causes it or what I can do to make it stop.

Other parts of my body also pulsate - the back of my elbow, near my armpit, sometimes on my calf.

Any thoughts or advice?

My eyelids use to pulsate all the time. The eye doctor told me it was from exhaustion and eye strain (I was in grad school at the time, got very little sleep and was reading constantly).

As for the other body parts, I don't know... sometimes my calf muscles tense up. Trying eating a banana... potassium can help.

I had the eyelid thing (also near my upper lip). Doctor told me it was stress plus a lack of magnesium. Got a magnesium + vitamin B6 supplement and it went away. Exercise also helps.

Yes, I get this when I am not getting enough sleep, and too much stress. It is a signal to re-evaluate your lifestyle and take things easier. You should also eat more spinach and black beans.

I had this particular problem for several years. Turned out that the nerves associated with the eyes come through the spine somewhere around C1 and C2. Once I got C1 back into alignment with my chiropractor, the issues went away completely. I suspect you have a slight herniation in your disc. Not a big deal though...chiropractors deal with these issues all day/every day.

Agree with PPs that it could be from stress. Get more sleep, exercise regularly, eat healthy and a change in lifestyle and work load may help.

I have the same thing! Thanks for posting, I like the answers since, looking back, mine does get worse when I'm stressed and/or really tired (like right now).
