If a student retakes a course and does better, where on the transcript does the replacement grade appear?: in the semester where course was retaken or in the semester it was originally taken?
For example, Student took Honors English 9A Fall semester of 9th. Retakes Honors English 9A during Summer between 9th and 10th. Earns a better grade in summer retake. Will the new higher grade replace Fall of 9th H English grade on transcript, or be listed as another course under Summer courses? |
Listed separately |
To expand on that - the course is listed under the grade it is retaken and the previously taken course vanishes. Summer school courses are listed with the rising grade and have a SS tag. For example, a retake Honors English 10B drops off the 10th grade courses and appears under 11th grade courses in alphabetical order. |
| So an A from summer school doesn't erase the B from 10th grade Spring semester? |
Why would someone who got a B retake? |
For better understanding. Believe it or not there are courses where teaching is just not good and students didn't understand it the first time around. |
| A 'B' could be a 79.5 which shows less understanding than let's say a student who got an 89. |
Whatever excuses your obsession with grades I guess |
This is true for many courses. |
I haven't seen how it is reported but the counselor said what PP described. The 10th grade spring semester grade just disappears and a new lines shows up that has a notation that it was taken in summer school with the summer school grade. |
Thank you |
I’m PP and yes, the previous line just disappears. I’m looking at one of my kids transcripts. |
An actual transcript, or SGGCR? |
Yes. Actual transcript. |
How does it look different than on the SGGCR? |
