Update: Providence LLIV versus Mosaic Center for Full Time APP

Anonymous
The most recent threads comparing Providence vs Mosaic for full time AAP are a few years old.

My 2nd grader (rising 3rd grader) got accepted to Full Time AAP for 3rd grade, and now has the choice of staying in Providence's Local Level IV , or going to Mosaic Elementary's Center AAP school.

In the past few years ago, I've seen Mosaic criticized as an AAP center on this forum for:

- perpetual construction
- trailers
- bullying
- too crowded
- too hard to sign up for extra curricular programs

I've heard that Mosaic's construction will now be finished by end of summer 2025, and the trailers removed too, so that takes care the first couple of items.

How have other fared the past year or 2?

I too would love to hear an update. We face a similar decision on Mosaic vs another local elementary

I have a current 3d grader at the Mosaic center. Both 3rd grade AAP classes are small, which has been great for my child…we’ll see if that continues next year. Classroom behavior not perfect, but much better than at our base. Largest cohort of 3rd grade center kids seems to be from Marshall Road and they’re a bit clique-y as a result. Construction hasn’t been a big deal - my child loves the new library but finds the new playground underwhelming so far Specials teachers are great, principal communication is good, lots of school-wide community-building events. All that said, we have plenty of friends who chose LLIV and have also been happy with their decision.

Personally, I think the center construct is on its last legs. We’re happy to have the option for now, but with the roll-out of more and more standardized curriculum, it doesn’t feel like there’s much actual enrichment/differentiation.
