Norway / Lofoton Islands in Summer

Anonymous
Would like to go to Norway in July or August. I've done a bit of research already and I'm thinking we'd do a two week road trip. Thing is, I can't decide if I just want to stick with two weeks in the Western Fjords area of Norway (fly into Bergen) or do two weeks in the Lofoton Islands area instead. Or if I want to do 3 weeks total and do two weeks of Western Fjords area and then fly up to the Lofoton Islands and do a week there.

We are very active and love to hike. I've done most of my research on the Earthtrekkers website, as they're big hikers, as well as some Youtube videos.

I'd like to be in the Lofoton Islands for the midnight sun but we can't go until mid-July at the earliest, as we are moving in June and need to get settled.

I just can't decide what I'd rather do! Anyone who's been there, please chime in! No kids, just DH and I.

I would do both. Lofoten Isjands were extremely striking and unique. But you don’t need weeks there. I recommend you FLY TO the Lofoten Islands after seeing some fjords. Stay in a a couple of rorbuers, rent a car, take a hike, see some I Icelandic ponies. Be sure to visit the Viking Longhouse.

We loved going to Lofoten. We flew from Bergen up to Boda. Stayed a couple of nights at Manshausen Island (which remains my favorite place in the whole world). Then we took a Ferry over to Lofoten. We stayed on a rorbuer, rented a car, and explored. It is so easy to drive there. We also did a Sea Eagle tour on a rib boat and it was just stunning. We saw the Viking Longhouse there too. On the return we took a small plane from Lofoten to Boda, and then Boda to Oslo.
