What would you serve before dinner?

We are having some friends over for a game night. When everyone arrives we will be having take-out delivered. I’d like to have something available to munch on while we wait for everyone to arrive and for the food to get here, but I don’t want it to be so heavy people spoil their appetite, nor do I want a ton of leftovers if everyone decides not to snack on whatever is served.

What are you getting for takeout? Like I wouldn’t serve a cheeseboard before Thai food

Either Mexican or Neapolitan pizza, we haven't decided yet.

Veggies and dip.

If you’re getting Mexican, I would just order before they get there and have guac and salsa ready

Veggies and 3 dips, cut up fruit, olives

Chips and various dips, with some decent Mexican beers such as Bohemia or at least Pacifico or Carta Blanca.

No Corona or Modelo obviously, leave the skunk beer alone.

I'd do a cheese board with crackers and some salted mixed nuts.

One of my friends does Marcona almonds, Castelvetrano olives and cubes of salty cheese like sharp cheddar or a pecorino for starters at every party. Another always has potato chips and tiny pickles. I like both because you won’t fill up on them but they give you something to snack on. A full cheese plate with crudite can turn into a whole meal.

Vegetables and dip that you can leave out during the meal, especially if pizza or something without a lot of vegetables

Fruit like grapes

If serving Mexican, chips and salsa and guac

If serving pizza, I just tried a warm hummus-like garbanzo spread at a Neapolitan pizza place that was delicious

Sparkling water

Margaritas and skip the snacks. (Just don't use Jose Cuervo.... so gross.)

I’d also go with veggies, crackers and dips.
