6 day vacation with late teens

Anonymous
Stumped on where to go this summer for a 6 day vacation with my college-age sons. We went to Europe last summer and my kids want something more laid back this year. We have done and enjoyed some of the Caribbean islands, Bermuda, California, the national parks out west. Looking for something where we can mostly relax and not be on the go but plenty for the kids to walk to. Budget around $10k. Any places I am missing for a 6 day jaunt?

Kind of late but maybe the finger lakes in NY or near Acadia.

My teen really enjoyed Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica. We stayed at Tulemar, which has a beach with good waves. The town is right outside the resort and has a lot of good restaurants. We went zip lining for part of a day and deep sea fishing but otherwise relaxed.

We are doing a 2-night beach stay ahead of a 4-night cruise this summer.

I thought Cancun was reasonably fun and I really liked Chichen Itza.

I'd recommend 1 day at Xcaret and 1 day at Chichen Itza. To me, those days compared favorably with the best days on any of my global trips.

We stayed at the Mayaland hotel in Chichen Itza. It is under new management.

I recommend the planetarium show at the Mayaland and the evening shows at Xcaret and Chichen Itza.

Puerto Rico if you want a US destination and drinking age of 18.

Following. We are looking for something similar OP. Was thinking possibly a nice resort or rental out west or maybe Maine but I think we are too late for Maine.

We did Vancouver/Whistler with our boys a couple years ago and it was a great trip.

This.

Do a road trip. They can help drive. So many options for nice scenery and cooler temps. Good food in Montreal, Quebec City, and Portland. Decent food in Vermont.

I have late teen boys and here are some recent trips we enjoyed:
- San Francisco (downtown hotel, city life, hikes, bikes)
- Costa Rica (small resort in Quepos, hikes, waterfall tour, animals, beach, trip up to cloud forest, Rainmaker suspension bridges)
- MDI, Maine (vrbo cabin, hiking and biking)
- Puerto Rico (large resort, all the water activities, big ziplines, segway tour in Old San Juan, hiking in rainforest)
- Las Vegas (big hotel, lots of shows, lots of food, lots of hiking)

Have fun!

We are all very much into hiking, biking, and wandering around cities
