ECNL moving to school year not calendar

If true, this only makes sense if they have one in SY and the other in BY.

Interesting…

GA is getting feedback from the GA clubs. Many are not wanting to go SY but GA also understand the shifting landscape and the issues with alignment with clubs that have different platforms. GA will make a decision which will be made public in May. Direct source info. TIFWIW.

My 2 cents is like what the one poster said - they want and prefer BY (hence her saying they don’t have plans to change when at that meeting) but are in a tough spot with what the other leagues have decided to do. If I had to bet, I’d say they bite the bullet and do some form of SY. But I could just as easily see them sticking with BY, which would be easier to manage if clubs have GA, Aspire, and MLSN, MLSN2. We will know soon enough.

ECNL has not announced anything either but they are switching to 9/1

ECNL is a league that plays for a national member org (USCS) that has already announced the change. All ECNL can announce is its transition plan for 26/27. SY/BY was never in its direct control.

GA is a league AND a national member org. At this point BY/SY is entirely in its control. And GA sanctions DPL now (used to both be USSSA), so the sub-leagues are equivalent to ECNL. No announcement is the announcement for GA.

That makes sense. Probably still worth mentioning something with all fuss about it.

GA and DPL play HS soccer. What is the point of staying in BY? Just to be different? GA is not stupid by the way they gobble up small clubs. It will go to SY.

What does it matter if they play high school or not?

If your wishful thinking that GA would stay in BY, then enjoy the remaining days left.

We have been playing BY and high school soccer since 2016? So how exactly would BY now not be able to operate with kids playing high school?

That does not make sense…

BY crowd it is gonna be ok…no need to create rumors or subscribe motive to different organizations

Pro BY here, but the u6-u12 leagues going SY makes it difficult for clubs to manage both. At U13 it will be a nightmare to manage player movement and teams under two systems. The writing seems to be on the wall for all but MLS Academies to be SY in 2026
