| Census and BLS in particular? I haven’t seen either of these called out specifically. |
| They disbanded that federal statistics advisory board (unfortunately I forget the name) and that was free so you can tell how much they value accurate stats. |
They will reconstitute it with administration-friendly people. |
| Don't forget Statistics of Income (IRS)... |
| … and BEA (Bureau of Economic Analysis), and BJS (Bureau of Justice Statistics). NP but I am also interested in hearing news about any of these agencies. |
| I wonder if they will cut specific surveys and what happens to the people in those branches. Will they RIF branches or cut programs and shift people? |
| PP, I believe they cut NCES entirely, but that wasn’t surprising since they are basically cutting the entire Ed department. |
Yes they did, even though NCES was its own separate org and older than the Dept of Ed by 100 years, but ..it has Education in the title so it’s a goner. Move fast...break things |
| At BLS, we had a large number take the fork because we had a lot of folks who worked remote and a lot who could take early retirement. We lost most of our contractors. Many of the teams had open positions before the hiring freeze (we had three empty positions), which won’t be filled but rather eliminated. HR is still working on the next phase, which I’m sure will have many victims. Project 2025 wants to merge all the statistical agencies and shrink them. |
I have not heard of any changes to surveys. |
The people at statistical agencies are not pro or anti administration. They’re numbers people. Totally apolitical, no matter what people post here. |
PP means they’ll reconstitute it with people willing to lie. |
+1. They are brilliant analytical egg heads, not political operatives. |
| These places sound redundant |
Why do you think that? |
