| They sent out an email this afternoon. If I do not provide a resume they will assume my position description is accurate to my job. I am almost retirement age. I do not have a current resume. I have been at my job for many years. My position description is just different then my resume would be. For example, it does not say I use SAS or my publications. It has some things really don't do as well. Do I need to write a resume? I am super busy at work right now and hosting lots of family for the holidays... I feel like it will not really matter? |
| How much time could this possibly take? |
Depends on how good one wants it to be..a formal polished resume from scratch is a project. Hard to believe anyone will look at it though given current environment. Its a gamble. |
| Just use ChatGPT and it won’t take too much time. You gotta fight AI with AI |
| If you get RIFd you will need a new resume for kob searching so might as well do one now. |
seriously. have you ever worked an evening before? If you want to keep your job, I'd put a lot of effort into this. |
| I don't know if it'll save your job, but it kinda sounds like a priority.... |
This, OP. |

Hearing a long term Fed doesn't even have a resume makes me go hmmm. I always had one. Do you even have LinkedIn to screen scrape and use for chatGPT?
Make one. Put your publications and presentations in a section. Put your software skills in a section. |
LinkedIn is very 2012. |
|
| +1 on chat GPT. I was helping my kid write one and it took about 20 minutes. It could take 5 if you don't take it seriously, but it's kind of fun to tell it, "add skills including SAS and SQL" and see the result instantly. And then try something else. And something else! |
You sound out of touch |
Why would anyone happy with a federal job spend time on a resume? I spend time on a resume only when looking.. |
Because successful people move up and do new things within the federal government. That requires updating resume. |
