Driving Colombus, Ohio

Is the drive to Columbus, Ohio scenic or otherwise nice? Niece visiting from overseas and has been invited to accompany a friend on drive.

Not scenic, fairly easy. The best route is I-68 (kind of scenic, through the MD panhandle through Cumberland and Morgantown WV) to I-79 to I-70. The last two hours are really, really boring (OH soy and cornfields).

The Hocking Hills area isn’t far, and is quite scenic. It would make for a nice detour if time allowed.

I-68 is the more scenic route than following I-70 up to Breezewood for the Pennsylvania Turnpike.

I-68 route can also take you up Rt-40 past Nemacolin and is possibly the most scenic of the three (but the final 2.5 hours of the drive is the same regardless.)

All three routes take virtually the same amount of time. However, their GPS will attempt to reroute them to the Pennsylvania Turnpike constantly.

If you live in NoVA, your GPS might try to take you on the 66 west, and through some windy mountain roads through West Virgnia. Very scenic, but I find them terrifying! When you get to Clarksburg WV, you take route 50 and it's not as scary.
