Loving this show with Nathan Lane, Matt Bomer, Linda Lavin and others.
It’s a bit like the Golden Girls concept but with gay men living in Palm Springs. |
Whyyyyyyy are shows still being made with laugh tracks? 😡
I’m disappointed because this is the exact type of comfort show I’d love to support but laugh tracks make me physically uncomfortable. Recent like Young Sheldon and Son of a Critch show you can make quality funny stuff without forced laughter and awkward joke pauses. Please networks. Stop with the laugh tracks 😭 |
Ugh, it's so bad. I was excited for it. |
I was looking forward to watching this. Maybe y'all are wrong ![]() |
It takes a few episodes to get into it and connect with the characters, so stick with it.
I wish they would have included Jm J Bullock playing his character Monroe from Too Close for Comfort. |
I really wanted to like this. Couldn’t get past 10 minutes. It was that bad. And I watch the trashiest of shows so wasn’t expecting Emmy level storytelling. |
Awful. I’m not wasting more time on it just to see if it gets better by the third episode.
Hacks is back next week. So much better. |
Agree about the laugh track. But I love Nathan Lane, and he does a great job here as well. I don’t mind it. |
It is bad and dialogue is so predictable. But i want so badly to love all the characters. Linda Lavin is perfection. Honestly where has she been since Alice? |
Sadly, Linda Lavin died soon after Christmas last year.
I enjoyed seeing her in “No Good Deed” with Lisa Kudrow. She also played a formidable matriarch in a good episode of Law and Order: Criminal Intent, but that was a while back. |
I really liked Linda Lavin in this and was so sad to hear of her passing. |
same same - i was excited to try it but couldn't get past a few minutes of the laugh track |
I went to a live taping of "Mom" in 2017. We were sitting a few yards from the stage and as a group we were genuinely laughing. The only thing fake was a few times they had to re-film a scene and they asked us to laugh the same way the 2nd time.
When we later saw the episode on TV, it sounded like a laugh track. But I had noted a few odd laughs when we were live, and they were still in the recording. I don't know if technicians ever adjust or add to the real live laughs, but it/s possible this show is not really using a laugh track and you are actually hearing the live audience recorded laughs. |
