| Considering the fact that its location is so much better than any of the three in the title of this post? |
| As someone who lives near it - Mason’s location is crap. Do you just mean proximity to DC? |
| Yeah, don’t understand how Fairfax is considered a better location. |
|
It’s a commuter school. And Trumpy.
|
| It attracts the righter side Econ department |
| GMU is definitely on the rise, but is a relatively young university compared to the others. Its location is a plus in attracting OOS and international students who don’t want to go to Blacksburg, Charlottesville, or Williamsburg, and want to be near DC. |
| It's fairly popular especially among the kids who are into the arts. |
As much as anything else, its age. GMU was a spin-out from UVa. It is much younger, so has not had as much time to get established. Separately, it has taken time for GMU to be considered more seriously by the VA Legislature, which funds some of the public university improvements. These days it is much less of a commuter school than it was 20-25 years ago. Many, not all, posting at DCUM crave "prestige" rather than quality, so GMU does not get much love here. |

It’s a commuter school with an ugly campus.
UVA is a thing of beauty created by a founding father. |
|
The location is at the intersection of two four lane highways across the street from a Wendy’s, McDonald’s, and Taco Bamba. |
Taco Bamba is solid… Hasn’t their law school already passed W&M? |
| Fairfax is a bad location. Who wants to go to college in the burbs at a commuter school? Most kids want to go to a real city or go out to a small town. |
About 23,000 full time undergrads. |
Well, it was created by a founding father. |
