Admitted student meet and greet

DD going to an admitted student meet and greet this weekend. Do parents also go to these? Would prefer she go alone or meet up with a friend also attending. But don’t want her to be only kid w/o a parent.

Is this a local thing for a non-local college? We have one coming up soon, too. This is in DC for an OOS school. The invitation asked for number of attendees, so I expect that means parents are included.

I've been wondering how to dress for one of these.

Just don't bring the proud grandparents and you will be fine.

We (parents) have been to a couple of these. I would suggest going if it's not inconvenient for you. Usually, this sort of event would be hosted by one or more local alums. You just never know when it might come in handy to have met the local alums as well as the other local new freshmen and their parents. At the very least, you might bump into them on campus - or at the airport - and it's nice to be able to say hello. The kids may sometimes end up on the same flight and may share an uber back to campus, for example.

^also, typically about half the kids would bring one or both parents and the other half would not.

in NY, Kenyon admitted students reception was at a private penthouse apartment with parents. Yale's was at a hotel in Brooklyn (and Yale Club in Manhattan) and no parents. Those are two I remember .. so it varies
