Is DOGE going to reduce its RIF activities after Elon Musk's departure?

So news says Elon is leaving DOGE at the end of May, is DOGE going to reduce or stop its RIF activities after Elon Musk's departure?

Anonymous
It'll get picked up by OMB and Vought

Let's hope they become more thoughtful about who they need. My bet is that agency heads will use feedback from recent layoffs to actually REHIRE some people discreetly, while trumpeting cuts elsewhere. Entire offices were laid off yesterday at HHS, and some of them are actually vital. That sort of thing...

No the RIFs were not Musk's baby. Stealing taxpayer data was his baby, once he got into SS and IRS he accomplished his goal and left. Tarriffs that hurt all of Tesla's competitors was a side bene.

Vought is the P25 guy, and he's not going anywhere. Beatings will continue until morale improves.

He will still be active behind the scene.

End of May is still enough time for massive destruction.

What was he stealing the data for? What does he plan to do with it, fleece us?

We've all been blaming must because he's crazy and a lightning rod. But it's Vought running the things. The process may become more professional, though, without his influence.

I think, though, that they're aiming to do most of the RIF type work by about that date, anyway. So it will likely slow down, but not because of the departure.

Or in other words, this administration has been using Musk to do most of the dirty work, and when he leaves because he's become too much of a political liability and everyone hates him... most of the cuts will have been done already. All that remains will be picking up the pieces and making it functional again (which means re-hiring some people!). This is the province of seasoned government workers, not childish billionaires who think that chainsaws make them look like big boys.

All they cared about was getting some headlines to feed to the MAGA base, so they'll move on to the next shiny object.

But there's still Vought.

Musk is a victim. Was totally used and abused by RV. RV let him take all the heat for his shenanigans.

RV and his crew have clearly indicated on podcasts how they want to shatter the entire administrative state — not just trim it (it’ll just grow back) but to pull it up by its roots. Listen to the Jan 8 Tucker Carlson podcast.

Nope, the barking dog is rarely the mafia boss.

And they have that new expensive "Institute of Peace" headquarters to hang out in now. They aren't going anywhere, apparently.

R “I want the federal workforce demoralized” Vought being thoughtful of the federal workforce? Don’t waste your energy on being hopeful.
