malware warning when I click on some threads

Anonymous
Hey Jeff, I've gotten a few of these today on threads in the Relationship forum. I didn't get it on Website Feedback and some others. Here's one I got it on several times.

Overly sensitive or does my SO not like me?Started by Anonymous, 04/01/2025 10:36

The ads are chosen dynamically so we don't get the same ones. It's also hard to say if there is truly malware being distributed by ads (possible, but not common) or your virus protector providing a false positive. If you know which ad is causing the problem, I can look into it.

I'm having the same issue. I switched from Chrome to Edge and seems to be better.

It doesn't seem to be related to an ad. I click on the thread title or a page number and instead of going to the thread I get a malware warning.

Same issue here. My work malware software is flagging an ad. I can't see which ad, because it's shut down as soon as it refreshes.

I've been having the same issue, but the popup claims to be McAffee, which I don't have and tells me it's starting a scan.

I discussed this with our ad partner today and they will be looking into it.

It's still happening. I'm 15:31. Chrome.

It's happening to me, but I don't even have to click. If I hover over an ad, I'll get taken to a malware warning page. I have to be careful to leave my cursor on a blank area and not sitting on top of an ad. I'm in Chrome.

It is happening to me when I click on a page number in a post, not ad related. It started yesterday and continued today. Not all the time but pretty often. I'm not having issues on any other site. Also in Chrome.

Are these warnings from your anti-virus programs or from something else?

For me they are popups telling me a scan is starting and that it's coming from something that ends in .boats It's not my anti-virus. It happens repeatedly when I try to read threads.

This is a malicious ad. I haven't seen one in months. Sometimes they only target specific browsers. If possible, could you make a screenshot if this happens again? Then email it to admin at dc urban mom dot com.

Thanks!

I'm getting it too. The virus scan ad. I'm on a PC using Chrome.

NP. Same issue here. Particularly the College forum. Keeps taking me out of threads and I have to start over.
