If anyone is watching this--aren't the first two episodes reruns from the original series? I could swear I've seen them before. I've read the trilogy (more than once) and am positive I am not just remembering Henry dressed like a Turk or Wolseys' daughter rebuffing Cromwell. |
Those episodes and scenes are new! Her writing is so vivid. I did feel like I had been in those rooms before just from reading. There are a few reused flashback scenes mostly at the beginning on S2E1. Wolsey’s daughter is in Book 3 which came out after the first series was filmed. |
How are you watching this? Where is it airing? Do you need a subscription? |
Sundays 9:00pm weta, replay 9:30 Friday weta uk. I think you have to donate to stream. |
I got a PBS subscription on Amazon for this and will cancel when I’m done watching. I’m trying to stretch out the episodes because they are just too good. But no, OP, we haven’t seen these before!! |
I had the same experience. I felt like I’d seen it before, but I realized that it was just that the scenes and dialogue were so close to the book. |
They repeated the Ann Boleyn final scenes from series 1 for context I think. |
It was actually the discussions between Cromwell and the ghost of Cardinal Wolsey that gave me the real sense of deja vu. |
