Hoopla question

Anonymous
Montgomery County recently cut back the number of books that can be checked out in Hoopla each month. I borrowed a “free” ebook that didn’t count against the limit. I liked the book, and saw that there were two more books in the series available on Hoopla. I checked out the second book, and hit my limit. I planned to borrow the third book in the series today — but it’s now not listed on Hoopla, even though it was listed last week. Is this common for new books? Is the title that I’d like to read likely to come back at some point in the near-ish future? I get that titles will get rotated, but it seems odd that I was encouraged to read the first book in the series with the freebie, only to have the last book disappear so soon after featuring the first one.

I've always told myself that the books were just being used if they weren't available on Hoopla. Kind of like all of the copies are checked out right now? I can usually find them later.

And I'm super excited that today is April 1, because this means that the Hoopla book count resets!! I'm impressed that you could hit your limit on the first of the month.

Thanks! While I COULD easily do 5 books on day 1, I hit my limit for March. My plan was to get the 3rd ebook in the trilogy today, when the limit reset — but the book is no longer listed on the Hoopla site. I’ll check back again later though.

Good to know that the book that I’m looking for might pop up again later.

Sorry for the double post.

I wish that Hoopla and Libby had a "leaving soon" section on their websites. Like with my HBO account, there is a leaving at the end of the month section. With Libby and Hoopla, you never know when the book you were going to check out one of these days will just go poof and disappear.

That would be great! Kanopy has this feature too.
