Do you wash salmon?

before you cook? I always do. My friend said, baking kills all bacteria.

My husband used to always wash raw chicken before cooking them thinking it helped get rid of bacteria. However, I read somewhere that the rinsing process actually splatters more bacteria around your sink and kitchen, so presuming you cook your meat to done-ness, it's actually safer not to rinse it first.

I always rinse fish because it helps take some of the fishiness taste out.

This is a true statement. There's no need to wash raw meat/seafood. Salmon is not fishy tasting and washing it will have no impact.

Washing with water alone does not kill bacteria or make meat taste different. You'll just end up splashing groady meat juice all over the place.
